Zip+4

Has anyone heard that insurance companies are going to deny claims that don't have the last 4 digits of the zip code on the patients address?

re: Zip+4

Unfortunately, you need to call each payer and see what they require for compliance with the new 5010 format. Some will want a nine digit zip code.

Your clearinghouse may just add some 0000's in that field: I don't know if that will work.

Have you tested?

Thanks so much! That is really helpful to know. do you think all clearinghouses will be able to do that for clients?

re: Zip+4

The zip+4 applies to the insurance adress and patients zip codes as well? I thought just place of service and billing facility? Please clarify.
Thank you.
