Are Surgical Assistant claims payable?

Hello All,

Can you please review and let me know if Medicare, Medicaid, BCBS, Aetna, UHC, Cigna & Wellcare pays for surgical assistant's claims? surgical assistant is not a PA or Asst Surgeon but a person who assists the Doctor during the course of Surgery.

I would be really thankful if you can provde a policy document for any of these insurances.

The "surgical assist" isn't a PA then what are their credentials?

State laws determine what credentialed NPP can bill for surgeries.
