AAOS coding rules for Orthopedics

Hi,

Can anybody help me to understand the key points in coding orthopedics surgery charts following AAOS (American Association of Orthopedics Surgery) rules? I have heard that their guidelines has some difference from coding using CMS CCI rules, but I do not know the detailed guidelines.

If anyone can help me understand that / provide any web link etc. , that would be most helpful. Thank you!

There is a book that the AAOS publishes called the Complete Global Service Data for Orthopedic Surgery. It shows what is bundled into each code.

I have found that Code X put out by the AAOS is an invaluable tool that provides just about everything you need.

They provide you with printable global data, CCI edits and RVU's
