Substance-Use Disorders tx

I am a counselor working under a physician that treats opioid dependence- initial appointments and follow up appointments. If I am meeting with a patient for follow up appointments and the physician briefly meets with the patient to determine if there is a need to adjust the medication- will this be billed under me or the physician? How can I bill under the physician codes as a licensed social worker?

Medication Management may be reported when done with psychotherapy by a psychologist who is permitted to prescribe medications. You cannot bill for a physicians services or medication management as Social Worker, You can, however, bill psychotherapy codes if, you spent more than 16 minutes with the patient doing psychotherapy and you are contracted with the payer, if so you may consider using 90832 - Psychotherapy, 30 minutes.
