Mesh removal in office

What CPT code would you suggest for removing mesh with forceps and scissors during an office visit? Patient presents to the wound care clinic and has erosion of mesh from a ventral hernia repair. The only thing he says is that he removed mesh with forceps and scissors.

You may consider the following codes, if there is nothing documented for the wound care then you cannot bill the removal as it is to be listed in addition to the primary code.

10180 - Incision and drainage, complex, postoperative wound infection

11008 - Removal of prosthetic material or mesh, abdominal wall for infection (eg, for chronic or recurrent mesh infection or necrotizing soft tissue infection)
(List separately in addition to code for primary procedure)

The other option is to charge an office visit with an E/M code (if all the key components are met). You may need to query the physician to see if there was an infection and if anything else was done.
