Can the NP and the Physician both see a NEW patient on the same day and be able to bill follow-up visits as Incident To?

The billing under a new patient seen by physician and NP same day will depend on documentation of who did what. The provider furnishing the history, physical and MDM will bill to level of medical necessity. If the NP provides the key components and MD participation is minimal, the NP bills. If the MD does the key components and NP may take parts of history (excluding HPI), the MD bills and establishes a POC. Subsequent visits under the established POC may be billed "incident-to".
