Assisting Surgeons

When I have two surgeons, (one is the assisting physician) , performing same surgery on patient, should I use the 62 modifier on the procedure being billed for both physicians or only on the assisting physician. Also, if multiple procedures, shoud I only apply 62 modifier to the main procedure code?
