iliofemoral bypass

The doctor performed a iliofemoral bypass and a thromboendarterectomy in the iliac artery during the same session. Can these procedures be billed together. I was thinking of using CPT® 35665 and 35351.

They are bundled, but a modifier is allowed if appropriate.

re: iliofemoral bypass

I don't find any LCD on these. I use a coding program called Encoder Pro. When I run the codes it lets me know if there are bundling issues. :)

I want to understand why these codes are bundled. Does it give you a explanation?thanks

re: iliofemoral bypass

No, but I believe it is because both codes are involving the iliac artery.

Code 35351(column 1) has a CCI conflict with code 35665(column 2). A modifier is allowed to override this relationship.

This is the only message I get. You just have to determine if billing both codes would be appropriate. Sometimes sticky. :)
