Co-Managed surgery, coming in for a differet reason

I have a patient that had cataract surgery that was co-managed by another physician. The patient now presents for glaucoma follow-up and testing. IT is my impression that I do not need to bill the E/M code with a -24 modifier? Am I correct in thinking?

if you aren't the surgeon who performed the cataract surgery or the co-managing provider, then you are correct, you do not need the modifier 24...

if you are either one of these entities, then you DO need the modifier 24 to let the carrier know that you are now seeing the patient for a condition unrelated to the cataract surgery...
