Chief Complaint/HPI

I have a provider who likes to use the CC in the HPI:
Example: CC - my foot started hurting yesterday
HPI - location:foot
- duration:started yesterday
If no additional HPI is documented, is this ok to use for both?

Your provider should really document a chief complaint. But based what you have provided, I think it would be safe to say that the chief complaint is foot pain. If I am remembering correctly, yes you are allowed to use for both but please check with your carrier to make sure.
