Office Visit with family member
Can you bill for an office visit if a patiens family member comes in the office for a consultation with the physician regarding the patient if the patient is not present at the visit.

No, you cannot bill for a consultation without the patient present. Read the notes in the CPT® book under office or other outpatient consultations. You have to have 3 out of 3 key components, and one of them is examination. You cannot charge for an examination that never took place.
