Coding excision lesion dx unspec. At time of excision.

What would be the proper way to bill for an excision of a skin lesion when the diagnosis is not clear at the time of the excision? Wait for the pathology report and choose a code describing either excision benign lesion or excision malignant lesion?

I always wait for the path report on any specimens removed by my general surgeons. You could miss out on more reimbursement for your doctors if you wait and see if it is cancerous.
