Use of Modifier GE

Back in 2011 it was brought to our attention (by an auditor) that the use of the GE Modifier was no longer being accepted by Medicare for a teaching hospital. I want to know if this policy is true; if it is true where I can find a copy of the article to support this; and does this policy still stand in 2012. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

re: Use of Modifier GE

To my knowledge, the GE modifier still applies in a teaching setting for the primary care exemption of E/M ((PF, EPF) encounters.
