preventive visit/ E/M / depo injection

I seem to have problems getting payment for depo provera injections if they are administered during another visit. For example, if a patient comes to the office for a pap smear or a contraceptive consultation and we give the injection while she is here, it seems as though I only ever get paid for the administration of the injection which is minimal. The office visit gets denied stating that it was included in with the injection fee. Could you give me any advice as to how to get paid for both of these?

Check your diagnosis codes, if a separate diagnosis is linked to each service, add modifier -25 on E/M.

The payer will make policy. If an E/M and administration code billed many include the Administration code bundled into the E/M and pay the J codes.
