Provider Visit and Infsuion Visit on Seperate Encounters Same Day

I was curious what regulations surround having two distinct encounters for an oncology clinic provider visit and for infusion services on the same day. I really haven't found any reason why it can't be done with no billing implications, but I also haven't found that this practice is acceptable by CMS. Any help would be great.

An appropriately documented MD E&M is payable with modifier 25 in addition to the infusion service. Should your MAC audit, you can provide the MD note in support.
