Post-Op wound vac

can you bill for the placement of a wound vac in the clinic during a post op period? I am thinking since it does not require a return to OR, the answer is no.

wound vac

No, it is related to recovery from surgery, global.

Re: Post-Op wound vac

I was thinking the same thing...but the ofc manager insists it is "above and beyond" any "normal" complications when the patient has a non-healing wound.
She wants to bill 97605-78. No return to OR, but done in the clinic;s "procedure room".

I didn't clarify the reason for the wound vac in my original post, so wanted to get some more opinions.

I also found out he also debrides the wound before placing the wound vac. Might this be billable?
