Xray Interpretation

Can an orthopedic surgeon charge for interpretation of films done at an outside facility, brought into the office by a patient, using a modifer 26?

Did the other facility bill the interpretation (radiologist)? What did the ortho doctor do, if a review, it is included in MDM of the E/M?

I would assume the interpretation was done by whomever took the original films and I agree that we should not allow our surgeon to bill for the interpretation as this is included in the MDM. I just needed some reassurance. Thank you.
