vs

We are stumped…and can’t find the ruling for coding dx with “vs” in the terminology. This is for an ER.
WE have a diagnosis of CVA vs Intracranial bleed.

Do we code one or both?

Thank you

re: vs

There is no code for "vs". You have to assign the symptom(s) unless CVA or intracranial bleed is confirmed.

re: vs

There are two major types, embolic or ischemic stroke and hemorrhagic strokes. Most CVAs are the result of atherosclerosis, hypertension or a combination of both.

Intracranial bleed: The cause of intracranial bleeding (hemorrhage) is an injury to the head.
