58555 Hysteroscopy

My doctor was to do a hysteroscopy but saw a polp when she started to go in. She said she could not do the procedure and I would have to have it surgically removed. She did not do the procedure but charged by $550 58555. Is that legal?

58555 is a "Diagnostic" Hysteroscopy which basically means they are looking around to see if there are any abnormalities or to "diagnose" the problem. No procedure has to be performed when it is "Diagnostic." To answer your question, it is perfectly legal.
