Patient Demographics

How often are you supposed to update the patients demographics? We have been asking our patients yearly? Is this correct, or only if there has been a change should we ask to update? Thanks for your help.

re: Patient Demographics

At least yearly and some practice ask with each visit if there has been any change in insurance.

re: Patient Demographics

Many of the practices I've been associated with in the last 2 1/2 years have changed to updating demographics every 6 mos. due to the socio-economic situations. So many people are having to relocate due to foreclosures, new jobs, home sales, etc.

re: Patient Demographics

in our pediatric practice, every time there is a pt contact (phone call, office visit, etc), the parents are asked if there is any change in their demographics. you won't believe how may parents fail to say, "I have a new phone number" even when asked!
