99173 vision screening
Our providers are adding this to the PE. Isn't this considered part of the PE. Where can I find documented information? Thanks

Under CMS guidelines, CPT® code 99173 may not be reported separately if visual acuity is measured as part of a an E/M service, because the test is then diagnostic rather than screening.
CPT® code 99173 is only reported with well-child care or sick-child visits not directly related to eye complaints or injuries. private payors will have individual policies for this code.
