I am trying to figure out what code to use for this scenario: The patient's daughter goes to see her mother's doctor about her mother's care. The doctor notes he spent 20 minutes counseling the patient on her mother's condition and care.

Could I use an established office visit 99211-99215 depending on the time or is there a better counseling code for this scenario.

I just wanted to clairy my question below. The patient (the mother) did not see the doctor just the patient's daughter so no exam was done but 20 minutes of counseling the daughter was performed.

Look at cpt code 99358-99359, prolonged physician service without direct patient contact. This includes before and/or after patient care communication with family.
