Palate reduction with Coblator
What CPT® code would I use for a palate reduction with Coblator.
Thanks
re: Palate reduction with Coblator
have you looked at 41530?
re: Palate reduction with Coblator
That is the code I used. Medicare has denied this stating: Procedure/treatment has not been deemed 'proven to be effective' by the payer.
re: Palate reduction with Coblator
this is true, many do not pay based on same reason.
re: Palate reduction with Coblator
Use an unlisted code (eg, 42299) for this procedure (palate reduction using radiofrequency/Coblator). CPT® 41530 is for radiofrequency/Coblation of the base of tongue - not the same anatomical location as palate. Many payors do not pay for the palate procedure or base of tongue procedure as they consider it "investigational" or "not medically necessary" particularly when diagnosis is snoring (rather than sleep apnea).
