Location of Service question

If I see my nursing home patients outside of the nursing home, meaning locaton of service is medical office, do I still bill using SNF codes 99307-99310 or outpatient office codes 99211-99215.

What if the office location is an office I rent just adjacent to the SNF and patients are brought to me there?

Place of service code 11.

re: Location of Service question

So I will bill as seen in office. Office visit reimburses higher than SNf fu.

Is that a red flag if Medicare sees my bill coding for nursing home 99308 all the time, then occasional 99213 even if I use the cOrrect LOS code 11?

I ask because I have. The often have the option of seeing them in the nursing home setting, or in the office, since we are geographically very close.

re: Location of Service question

An office is an office, is an office. POS code 11 is correct. One should use the POS code that correlates with the type or place of service in which the encounter is rendered; and in this case, the bldg. is an office. What type of patient (in this instance a nursing home patient) does not affect the Place of Service. Where you rent office space is your perogatory; even if it is adjacent to the nursing home, and remember, it is still an office; a non-facility setting.
