Myocardial Perfusion Study
We have the following report:
Following intravenous administration of 14mCi of technetium-99m Cardiolite at rest and 38 mCi of technetium-99m Cardiolite, a nongated myocardial perfusion was performed. There is normal distribution of radionuclide.
There is no evidence of abnormal uptake on the stress portion of the exam to suggest stress-induced ischemia. There is normal wall motion.
Because the study is non-gated, the ejection fraction could not be measured.
My question is, since there is no ejection fraction, would we still code 78452?
With the new codes, I don't see one that states w/o ejection fraction.
Thanks for any assistance offered.
78452
Wall motion and ejection fraction are part of the CPT code 78452 and not billed separately when they are performed. If wall motion and ejection fraction are not performed, CPT still allows use of the new codes and hence the language “when performed”.
