Patient admitted with renal failure, starts dialysis. Cardiology does cath to eval for renal transplant finds disease. Surgeon called to do CABG. It is elective How long does patient have to be home before we can readmit for CABG and get paid for each admission? Any reference for answer?

While this is directed to same day readmission for related or unrelated reasons, having done audits for QIO, I am aware of some reviews done on readmissions within 2-3 days. Often, in that case, they are looking for evidence of premature discharges. Clinical documentation will be critical in both cases.
