What is the proper way to code and bill with a 99071? Which insurances will pay?

The intent of the code is that the provider needed to buy and give the patient some type of educational item. CPT® assistant from way back when used an example of a video for a patient who wanted to self-inject insulin but didn't know how.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find many (or any) payers that pay additionally for this code.
