Code 99217

If the discharge is on a different date than admit, do you use 99218, 19 or 20 as admit code?

Observation

codes 99218-99220 are for the admit to Observation. Code 99217 is for the discharge from Observation, different date of service. In 2011 there will be new codes for subsequent obs days (won't have to use office codes).(99224-99226)
