billing
I thought I sent this request a week ago. We have a adult child of an elderly patient that wants to come in and discuss issues with Dr Laura about their parent.
Does parent need to be present?
How do I bill this?

re: billing
Yes, the patient needs to be present. If you look in the CPT® book, under E&M services, it clearly states that all 3 of the key components are necessary for billing. This includes an exam. Which means, if the patient is not there, then the exam cannot happen, that means there is not a billable charge occurring.
Sorry...
