what e/m and icd codes would be appropriate, if the patient comes in for a blood workup only? keeping in mind that the blood reports are reviewed by the physcian and followed up with the patient. thanks

Depends on the documentation by the physician and abnormal tests. Medical necessity dictates the encounter code. Usually patient's present only for blood work and can charge a blood draw. Need full picture of the encounter and additional work performed.

I understand what you are saying, but should we be charging 99211 as the physician reviews the report and follows-up with the patient by phone even if the report is normal, and also should I place v-code first such as, v72.60 or v72.62 followed by the reason for the test or the other way around?
