adjustments

I have been getting quite a few insurances paying their portion and then leaving a patient balance of a few cents....does anyone know if it is legal to write off this small balance as it doesn't pay us to send the patient a bill for a couple of pennies. I know this isn't really coding related but didn't know who else to ask! =)

If it's not Medicare or Medicaid, we small balance adjust it off. If it's one of the government carriers, I think legally we have to bill the patient.
