Pediatric Critical Care

Hello. Can someone help me with a question. If a patient was admitted to ICU, let's say on 8/5/11 and the physician billed a 99475 and on subsequent days bill 99476, then the patient was sent to a regular ward a few days later, only to return to ICU, wouldn't the physician bill for subsequent critical care (99476) of the pediatric patient and not another intitial (99475) critical care code since they weren't discharged from the hospital? The physician sees it as they were "re-admitted" to ICU and wants to bill another initial visit. I don't believe this to be accurate, but thought I better double check. Thanks in advance for any information!

Sincerely,
Mihcelle Yaden, CPC
