When can these codes be used? If a patient has an infusion appointment and we draw blood from the port/picc line, can we use one these codes to bill for the blood draw?

Blood draw

No, you cannot charge separately for a blood draw from a port or PICC

These codes are not separately reported when any other service is performed
on the same date. As a result, the only time these port/PICC draw codes will
be paid is when they are the sole procedure performed for the patient on a
particular service date. In the hospital outpatient setting, special "packaged" rules apply.

PORT/PICC Draws

Nancy Maguire is absolutely right (duh)... these are T-status codes for Medicare, meaning that they are a hard edit when billed with another service. Additionally, the Blues in California are going back to 2008 and asking for money back if you billed these codes with any other service. Beware!!!
