As of 2010 consult can be a shared visit?

I see that the Medicare E/M Services Billing Guide now states that "The split/shared E/M policy does not apply to consultation services (prior to January 1, 2010) critical care services, or procedures." So when Medicare stopped allowing consultation codes they started allowing shared consultation services?

No, when CMS stopped allowing consults, the concept of sharing became a moot point.

Another way of stating this would be 'while we still allowed consults, they couldn't be shared. Now that we don't recognize the existence of consults, we don't need a rule telling you consults can't be shared."
