Mobilization of sigmoid colon
Is there a CPT® code for mobilization of sigmoid colon? Is it inclusive of CPT® 44140 for partial colectomy for perforated diverticulitis or do I use 44139 "mobilization of splenic flexure.
Here is what the surgeon reported:
Following the sigmoid colon down to the pelvis, we found the area of perforation; there is an obvious hole and some purulent fluid, and evidence of inflammation around the hole in the sigmoid colon. The small bowel was run and it looked okay. We then went to the lesser sac and looked at the posterior aspect of the stomach, and there was no evidence of any perforation there. It was obvious that the site of the perforation was the sigmoid colon.
At this point, we took down the sigmoid colon and the left colon from its attachments to the lateral abdominal wall, down to the white line of Toldt. We then identified the ureter. We were careful to mobilize the sigmoid colon off of that.
Please help??

No CPT® code for this, it is inclusive to partial colectomy.
