Diabetic Eye Exam

What is the diagnosis code for diabetic background for an eye exam that includes Visual Field and OCT? 362.01 is rejected from UHC.

UHC requires that the 250.50 be the 1st dx then you would use 362.01, they started this at the beginning of the year. Melissa

correction the 1st code would be 250.50, not 250.00 sorry :( then you would use the 362.01.

I would use 250.50 (Diabetes with ophthalmic manifestations, type II or unspecified type, not stated as uncontrolled) as the primary code. And then use 362.01 as your secondary.
