Insurance fee schedule

Do you have to negotiate your price schedule with each individual Insurance Company to get an increase in payment reimbursement (not including Medicare/Medicaid). If so, do you have any suggestions on how this is done?

Yes, every single insurance plan!! Unless you have NOTHING else to do in your day, hire an outside company. If you are a primary care practice you have to PROVE you do "over and above" what normal PCP's do to get even a marginal increase. I just went through this with one PCP who was determined he was worth far more than what he was receiving...when he was asked by the carriers for a list of what he did over and above the normal PCP, he was able to ome up with ONE additional procedure.

Thanks for your advise. We are a primary care practice and we do use an outside company for most plans, but they are unable to negotiate for us with BC/BS, UHC and Aetna. I was told to take 25 of my top CPT codes and make a spread sheet with our fee; the carriers reimbersement fee; and on the last collum put in the fee increase we want. Would this work?
