GYN Surgery

I have a question about billing GYN surgery. We have a two doctor office that do GYN surgery. If Dr A's patient needs a vaginal hysterectomy and a bladder repair (sling), then Dr A is the primary surgeon for the hyst and Dr B would be the assistant surgeon. Then Dr B is the primary surgeon for the sling and Dr A assists. Is this proper billing? Both doctors are qualified to do both surgeries and trade back and forth depending on whose patient is haveing the surgery. So the billing would look like this for Dr A's patients: 58270, and 57288-80 and Dr B would bill 58270-80, 57288 and vice versa for Dr B's patients. By doing this the doctors increase their reimbursement by about $389.00. Can anyone give me some insight. Thanks, Lynn Kimsey, CPC, CPMA, CPC-I, CEMC
