Newborn "other than normal" initial visit
My hospitalist Pedi doc billed Initial Visit 99222 for a newborn with tachypnea. The documentation in a newborn record is not enough to meet all the requirements of a regular inpatient visit (ie. no ROS, no past medical hx). What should I advise the providers to document for the "other than normal" newborn that will meet the coding/billing guidelines?
