In an hosptial outpatient setting, how are you capturing your facility fee? Is there a CPT® code for that?

Facility Fee

Facilities capture fees by using E & M codes, but this is only in clinics and emergency departments. The calculation has no relation to history, exam, MDM, but typically uses a point system to develop code levels based on utilization of resources. Each facility may have a different point system, but they should always be realistic and consistent with the point assignment. Outpatient clinics will use the 99201-99215 range. Emergency departments use 99281-99285. or critical care codes if indicated. For Medicare, type A emergency departments use 99281-99285. Type B Emergency departments use G0380-G0384.
