lap converted to open

In ICD-9 we used V64.41 what should I do for icd-10? Help i have a complicated case and not sure what I should do. Do I code for both or use a 22 modifier? Thanks so much Nancy

The new code to V64.41 is Z53.8

but that states procedure and treatment not carried out and my physician started the lap and converted to open procedure.

Our system offers cross coding and that is what they have crossed it to. I thought it was odd as well. Assumed the code meant that the lap procedure was not carried out as planned. There is nothing that specifically states Lap converted to open like V64.41 did.
