CPT® code 80101

Medicare has denied the outpatient hospital claim for the lab charges that were submitted with CPT® code 80101. The reason for denial given by Medicare is that the code is invalid. If this is true what is the replacement code? Our lab is CLIA certified.

I do believe that is a non covered medicare code and no matter how you code it they will not pay that CPT®.

The new code is G0431.

I bill for a CLIA certified lab as well. Because we do ten different tests, we have to code G0431 and repeat it 10 times per patient.
