New patient visit

Hi,

I have a small question that I am working for a pain management doctor and recently another doctor who is an internal medicine joined the existing doctor group. so, my question is if the new doctor who joined recently sees the patients of an existing doctor who are new to the new doctor joined so, what type of E&M services to be billed i.e., either new patient or established patient visit.

I always refer to the chart in CPT®. It is called Decision Tree for New vs Established Patients in the introduction to E/M services guidelines.

Exact same specialty and subspecialty =established patient.
