Statute of limitations for take backs

Is there a statute of limitations for the insurance to take back monies paid? We are located in CA and have received a request for refund for dates of service in 2001 and 2011 due to terminated insurance.

Any information would be appreciated.

wow I have had the same issue and I believe there is. I would call the Department of Insurance in your state and talk to someone. That is what I did here in KY when they were asking for money on a claim that was in 2010.

Your contract with the payer should include language about time limits for take back. If it does not, the provider is left in a vulnerable position, and should be included in the next contract negotiation.
