Initial hospital day 99222/99223

With Medicare, If hospital medicine bills 99223 and then the patient is seen by cardio, and neuro on same DOS can they also bill 99222/99223? I'm being told no but I'm not sure if that is correct AF Modifier was appended to the specialty visits, AI on HM visit.

Yes! We are neurosurgeons and most of our patients come from the hospital. As long as your speciality is not being seen by another doctor in that same speciality, you are good to go. We never have a problem with Medicare, it's the other payers that we have to prove it too.
