Can you bill a preventive visit with a 25 modifier if also administering a depo shot at the same visit?

Probably depends upon the payer. You can most likely get paid for the J code for the drug, but the administration code will probably be bundled into the E/M.

If you do this frequently, I'd test the payers and keep a grid to see who does and doesn't allow. There shouldn't be an edit between a preventive medicine service and the depo injection, but payers develop their own edits, unfortunately.
