pa medicaid ob visits

My PA Medicaid claims for routine prenatal visits are now denying using the code V22.2 which I have used for years. I tried V22.0 and v22.1 and they are denying these codes also. I was informed by them to refer to my ICD-9 book because the code has changed but that is all the info I can get. I am at a loss as to what code to use. Any suggestions??

re: pa medicaid ob visits

I am using E/M codes 99211, 99213, 99215 depending at what point the patient is in her pregnancy. I guess I should have specified, this is only happening with Amerihealth Mercy which is an alternate to straight Medicaid.

The denials state "This diagnosis is not covered" and "Missing/Incomplete or Invalid principal diagnosis". (?????)

those codes haven't changed. what are they talking about?! i always try to use a 600 code whenever I can, but if everything is normal for the patient then i use V22.x codes.
