locum tenens

Once a physician has left a group practice, how long after he has quit can a locum tenens physician be used? Up to 60 days or can another locum tenens physician come in and do another 60 and so on? Or does it stop after the first 60 days? What if a locum tenens physician came in 30 days after the original physician left the practice how long would the locum tenens physician be able to work?

locum

When the physician leaves, use that MD"s provider number for the locum. There is no limit to how long, but you have to change locums every 60 days. If the locum stays longer than 60 days, you have to credential and enroll in Medicare.

If you search for the word locum in the search box, you'll find an article with more detail.
