Fee schedule

My doctor wants to up her fees? Can anyone give an idea of how to determine fee schedule for a Family Practice physician.

re: Fee schedule

Simply increasing fees will only affect your self-pay people. Your payments from insurance(s) are pre-determined by the reimbursement agreed upon in your contract(s), or the fee schedules set by Medicare and Medicaid in your state. To increase payments from non-entitlement entities, you need to go to your provider / contract representative(s) and present your case for changing your contractual reimbursement methodology. And, collect those copays. Insurances are pushing more and more of their costs off onto the patient.

BTW, if your are getting paid what you charge, you do do need to consider an increase. Get out your contracts, make a spreadsheeet, and set your fees just slightly higher than your "best" payer. Most insurances will have gone to some % of RBRVS, but there are still a few old school holdouts that use different methodologies.
