What does the term counseling entail when used in the established patient office levels sucha as 99213? Specifically a provider charged 99213 with 99354 for an office visit. After discussion with our out side auditor it was decided that a higher office level should be charged and the prolonged service code taken off. The providers question was what is the meaning of counselling is psychological or what does counselling cover in an office visit?
